Value First, ColorSecond:
Elevate Your
Painting Skills

Value Color Class

Understanding value—the lightness and darkness of shapes in your artwork—is one of the most essential skills in painting. It helps you create depth, contrast, and energy, making your work more dynamic and visually compelling.

In this four-day, hands-on workshop, you’ll sharpen your ability to see and apply value effectively while strengthening your understanding of color.

You’ll gain confidence in making bold, intentional choices in your artwork through guided exercises and personalized instruction.

Whether you want to refine your technique or overcome hesitation in using color and contrast, this class will help you unlock new creative possibilities!

  • The power of contrast and why it makes your paintings stronger

  • How to translate color into value to make better color choices

  • Practical exercises to train your eye and build confidence

  • Hands-on painting time with individual guidance
